you have to decide what you're living for.
"He is much stronger than he appears, like spicy chicken noodle soup disguised as a cup of half-sweet teamilk."
Hoshimi Miyabi
"Harumasa always tosses the sugar packets away every time he drinks coffee! But that's okay! All the more for me..."
Soukaku
"A genius? I see nothing more than a coward watching from the sidelines."
A disgruntled "former colleague" of Harumasa
"When he was a child, he was full of enthusiasm for everything! If it weren't for his master..."
Harumasa's Superior?
Asaba Harumasa, a member of Hollow Special Operations Section 6. Possessing exceptional Ether aptitude since he was young and being dubbed a prodigy, he entered HSO after graduating with outstanding merit. Was originally a member of a certain ace division within HSO, but later left due to various reasons, joining Miyabi's team instead.
He possesses a carefree and laid-back attitude, and his only wish is to achieve acceptable results with minimum effort. After efficiently taking care of his work to the lowest acceptable standard, he will hurry to use all the remainder of his available time to rest (slack off). He claims he uses a bow to better slack off, as it effectively lowers the amount of running he has to do.
Asaba Harumasa has poor health, and over-exercise sometimes triggers his illness. He often uses this reason to apply for sick leave, though no one knows what he does with this time off. Either way, it's probably not resting.
AGENT INTEL 1 Spoilers
Asaba Harumasa has a very rare illness, Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome. This illness causes certain parts of the patient's body to mutate, wrecking their constitution, but also giving them unusually exceptional Ether aptitude. In the late stages of the illness, the patient's body will rapidly deteriorate, losing their Ether aptitude and sensory functions while under immense pain, eventually resulting in death. If the patient's illness worsens in late stages while in a Hollow, they'll quickly be corrupted into an Ethereal. Those who suffer from Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome do not live long. Currently, the longest-lived person with this illness died at the age of 26.
There is no known method to completely cure this disease.
Notes
— Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome can manifest in different parts of each individual's body. In Asaba Harumasa's case, it wrecked and continues to wreck his lungs and heart. Symptoms when he's doing particularly poorly: coughing, shortness of breath, dizziness, and general weakness, easily tired.
— Despite claiming to use a bow for efficiency, Asaba Harumasa has clear sentimental ties to the bow given his history with his Master — the one and only person he considered like family to him.
— Jokes about death a lot but it's not really a joke. At the same time, it's almost as if by asking for mercy kills glibly, he's saying 'well now I've asked, I won't need it'.
— Although Asaba Harumasa absolutely wants to live, he is also very willing to sacrifice himself if need be.
— As he has been brought back from the brink of death once thanks to his Master's medicine, asking for a miracle a second time seems unrealistic. Guesstimating his age as 22-24ish, with a reminder that the extent of lifespan for people with Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome is 26. If I somehow missed his concrete age somewhere, please DM me and save me. #Thanks
— It seems his demo trailer was to set the tone for his Trauma TM which makes a lot of sense after you play through his story. It certainly made it interesting to watch and interact with how he presents himself daily.
— Fun fact: of all the male presenting models in ZZZ so-far it looks like just Harumasa has the soft pink lip tint. Do with that what you will.
— He owns a cat who was a stray. Has used its temperature to call out of work sick, allegedly, though my assumption is it really was his temperature and as always he's deflecting about his own situation. Smile dot jpeg.
